Almost exactly 25 years after the first visit to Holzdorf, the Bundeswehr Day gave the author the opportunity for another visit to the air base there, in GDR times home of MiG-21-equipped fighter wing JG-1. As with the previous year's event at Bückeburg, the desire for military flying without long journeys was the main motivation, and given the even shorter journey it was worth it, even if the programme could not match that of 2023. Unfortunately, the hope of seeing one of the two MiG-21s still present at the base was also disappointed. Only a Mi-24 from NVA stocks could be spotted in the entrance area.
The highlight of the flying programme was not the F-35, which the author saw here for the first time, but definitely the solo display of the Eurofighter, which also outshone the supposedly so loud F-35 acoustically. Here is the photo report:
