Even though the weather was not kind to the event at fighter wing JG 73 at Laage on July 4, 1998, it remains a good memory for the author. Not least because of the illustrious crowd of visiting aircraft that turned an "open day" into a fully-fledged airshow. The highlight of the day, however, was undoubtedly the last public display of a Su-22 from NVA stocks, which must surely have stirred some emotions among former members of the NVA wings based at Laage.
