From today's perspective, the fact that the author attended an event like the 1997 "airshow" at Finow airfield at all can only be explained by its comparatively good accessibility and the lack of a car of his own. In the flying programme itself, at best the Luftwaffe MiG-29 was worth the trip. But at least the museum on the airfield offered numerous interesting exhibits, including several MiG-21s.
