This year, too, an open day was held at Flotila 71 Aeriană at Câmpia Turzii. Compared with the previous year, the flying programme was less spectacular, but the visitor area extended over almost the entire base.
Before the event, a MiG-21 monument was inaugurated at the new motorway exit right at the access road to Câmpia Turzii base.
The open day took place at the end of the Romanian-US exercise Dacian Thunder 2011, for which A-10C Thunderbolt IIs had deployed from Spangdahlem to Romania.
