Mezinárodní Letecký Den Brno (Czech Republic) 1997

The first air day held at Brno-Tuřany airfield since the Second World War (?) brought not only an encounter with the Czech MiG-21s, which had left the base only six years earlier. In addition, types could be seen in action that were to be retired only a short time later, such as the MiG-23 and the Su-25. Finally, the strong presence of the JAS-39 Gripen – including formation flying with Czech Mi-24s – anticipated something that was to become reality only eight years later: the replacement of the MiG-21 by the Swedish type.
